Pau visited Roosevelt High School on Saturday along with fellow Lakers Xavier Henry and Nick Young to participate in the Highway to Health Festival community health fair. More than two hundred students, children and families from the Boyle Heights community gathered at Roosevelt High for the health fair where multiple community organization¹s had booths offering health screenings, nutritional information and healthy snacks, including tangerines and other fruits and vegetables from beloved local businesses. There were also clinics offered on yoga, meditation, Zumba and a dance instruction class from the Laker Girls.
The Highway to Health Festival was sponsored by the Active Alliance, a partnership of California¹s four NBA teams (Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Warriors), The California Endowment and the HealthCorps, to promote healthy food choices and more physical activity in communities throughout Los Angeles.
Pau and his teammates took questions from the kids about their own personal favorite healthy foods and workout regimens. While Xavier and Nick joined students for a basketball clinic, Pau (who loves to cook) judged a healthy food cook-off between two teams of students. As a part of Pau’s commitment to helping kids lead healthier lives, he was honored to take part in a true community event where he could talk directly to kids about how important it is to eat healthy and stay active.
